A Note from Chef Chelsea:

I enjoyed growing up right here in Nashville Tennessee! While southern cuisine holds a special place in my heart, I was surprisingly born into a vegetarian household smack dab in the middle of the BBQ and fried chicken belt. My curiosities surrounding everything my vegetarian upbringing was lacking (albeit some of the best vegetarian fare I have ever had – thank you mom!) lead me to foggy San Francisco!

In 2008 I began to pursue my culinary education! While studying in a two year culinary program I enjoyed chaotic nights in the kitchen with my family and friends as I attempted to impress them by recreating whatever that day’s lesson had been – think Julia and Julia! Boy, did I make some messes in the kitchen!

When I wasn’t practicing my skill sets I made sure to enjoy every delectable bite of food the beautiful city of San Francisco had to offer. I had a very enlightening time transitioning from my position as a full-time student to being a full-time chef in various kitchens around the city where I had been recommended to head chefs by my professors.

I will never forget when I was plating miniature desserts with tweezers for a high profile guest at the Bohemian Club on Taylor when a gaggle of bag pipers started up right behind me in the middle of the kitchen before they marched out to the front of the house for their performance!

After six years in San Francisco I decided to take some time off of fine dining to live out my dream of learning how to surf, so naturally I moved to Maui! I had a blast surfing every morning before I headed into work each night at a local burger joint! My favorite part about my stay in Maui was ironically not the sand and surf but the opportunity I had to rescue and adopt my beloved bird dog, Olive – and yes, she can surf too!

After another year of cooking in San Francisco it was time for me to come back to my hometown! Opening Chelsea’s Table here in Nashville has been one of the most rewarding parts of my cooking career – from our launch dinner back in 2014, to my husband and I losing our home in a tornado (which meant losing our Chelsea’s Table homebased kitchen in 2020) - it’s truly been the biggest adventure of my life!

Nashville is not the little town I grew up in - it’s a bustling city full of delicious food, brilliant art, and a music scene that reaches far beyond our country roots! It’s an amazing place to be a part of and I hope that Chelsea’s Table continues to grow with the city!

Because I’m more than just a chef,
